Ensemble Ugo is a platform for composers and musicians who wish to develop their artistic voices through collaborative work.
Initiated by composer Rodrigo Maturana Foscolo, the ensemble brings together artists from diverse musical, cultural, and geographic backgrounds.
The Ensemble Ugo operates as a flexible structure rather than a fixed group, working with a broad range of performers and composers on a project-by-project basis. Its activities combine composition, music theory, and improvisation, leading to performances that move across genres and traditions.
The repertoire includes contemporary music from Germany and Brazil, Argentine tango, and the European classical tradition, with a particular focus on improvisation and collective working processes.

Unser letztes Musikprojekt „Waning Crescent“ & Musikseminare
In response to the pandemic, Rodrigo Maturana Foscolo initiated two works: The Acceptable Unknowledge: La cerise dans son laboratoire (2021) and the opera Il Sottile Delirium for two singers and eight musicians, premiered in June 2022. Both projects were developed in close collaboration with an international group of musicians.
Because participating artists were based in Argentina, Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany, much of the work was carried out online, shaping a collaborative and transnational working process.
The ensemble’s most recent project is Waning Crescent (2024), a collaborative work for solo clarinet with Stephanie Clark and four international composers, premiered as part of the Month of Contemporary Music in Berlin.
In 2025, Ensemble Ugo began an online seminar series on contemporary music in Spanish. The series will continue in 2026 and be expanded with an additional seminar series in English.
